Kathy Diane Hicks Patterson, born December 31, 1955, in Iredell County, NC, passed away peacefully of natural causes on January 18, 2025, in Statesville, NC. She was 69 years old. Her journey through life was marked by her love for family, her dedication to her work, and her unwavering spirit of kindness and generosity.

Kathy spent her career as an Outside Upholster at Gilliam/Thomasville Furniture, where she was known for her meticulous craftsmanship and strong work ethic. Her colleagues remember her as a warm and caring presence, always ready to lend a helping hand.

Kathy's passions extended far beyond her professional life. She found joy and inspiration in her hobbies, which included painting ceramics, tending to her garden, and creating culinary delights in the kitchen. Later in life, she discovered a love for crafting, channeling her creativity into beautiful and meaningful pieces. Kathy also enjoyed watching classic shows like "The Waltons," "The Andy Griffith Show," and "Gunsmoke," which brought her great comfort and nostalgia.

A woman of faith and compassion, Kathy was an active member of Union Grove United Methodist Church. Her commitment to service was reflected in her involvement with the Paralyzed Veterans Organization, Animal Humane Society, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, and United Way. Her charitable spirit touched many lives, embodying the values she held dear.

Kathy was preceded in death by her beloved son, Eric Willis Patterson; her brother-in-law, Jack Creasy; and her parents, Howell Henry Hicks and Stella Mae Money Hicks. She leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory: her daughter, Sherrie P. Earwood (James); her brother, Jim Hicks (Brenda); her sisters, Brenda Williams (Joe) and Gretchel Creasy (Jack); her brother, David Hicks; and her grandchildren, Heather Denise Patterson (Kyle Benson) and Joshua Howell Patterson. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Haley Denise Forehand, Isaac John Forehand, and Juniper Evelynn Benson. Her granddog, Bo Earwood, held a special place in her heart.

Kathy's legacy is one of love, resilience, and generosity. Her spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her, reminding them to cherish family, embrace life's simple joys, and give selflessly to others.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Kathy's life and share memories at a gathering on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at The Residence of Kathy H. Patterson. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to any of the organizations she so dearly supported.

May her soul rest in peace, knowing she made the world a better place through her love and kindness.
