Kathy Shoemaker Carrier

Kathy Shoemaker Carrier, 69, of Statesville, NC, went to her Heavenly home to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, December 4, 2023.  She was born on July 6, 1954, to the late Rufus Guy Shoemaker and Norma Jane Sharpe Shoemaker of Harmony.

Kathy was married to the love of her life, James D. Carrier, for 52 wonderful years.  They were constantly together all the way to the end.  Kathy worked for 38 years at JP Stevens in Turnersburg, NC.  She was a former member of Bible Baptist Church.

A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she cherished spending time with her family.  She enjoyed reading, yard sales and haggling, taking long drives (always taking the scenic route), planting flowers (especially roses and tulips), fishing and dogs.  Kathy loved talking to people and never met a stranger.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.  Kathy was a sweet and an amazing woman.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus Guy Shoemaker and Norma Jane Sharpe Shoemaker; grandson, Matthew Ward; sister, Kay Carrier; and son-in-law, Michael Hennessey.  Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, James; daughters, Teressa (Chris) Odham, Janie (Tim) Keller, and Amanda Hennessey; grandchildren, Mindy Faulk, Nathan Keller, and Elizabeth (Aaron) Littlefield; great-grandchildren, JJ Faulk and Baby Littlefield; her siblings, Guy Shoemaker, Karen Munday, James Shoemaker, Gay Connolly, and Rex Shoemaker; her many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her beloved pets, Sugar, Precious, Cooney and Taco.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, Friday, December 8, 2023, at Nicholson Funeral Home.  A Graveside Service will follow at 2:30 pm at Oakwood Cemetery with pastor Max Hayes officiating.
