Kathleen "Kathy" Eleanor Mlaska

November 29, 1939 — April 6, 2017

Kathleen Eleanor Duggan Mlaska, 77, of Statesville, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2017 at the Gordon Hospice House. She was born in Council Bluff, Iowa on November 29, 1939 to the late Frank and Elizabeth Moss Duggan. Mrs. Mlaska was a graduate of Saint Francis High School and was a member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church. On June 14, 1975, she married William Carl Mlaska, who survives. They shared over 41 years of marriage before her passing. Mrs. Mlaska was a retired transcriptionist who had worked at Iredell Memorial Hospital and Salisbury Regional Hospital. She was a devoted wife and mother who cared deeply for her family. She loved bingo and spending time with her "bingo buddies." Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Greg Whitt. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Bill; three daughters, Mary Ellen Bruce (Milton), Cheryl Mlaska (Mark), and Elizabeth M. Middleton (Jamie); four sons, Daniel Whitt (Cindy), Michael Whitt, Robert Mlaska, and Patrick Mlaska; eight grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church with Father Thomas Kessler officiating. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will visit with friends at Nicholson Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Tuesday evening, April 11, 2017.
