Judith "Judy" Ann Lazenby

Judith Ann Drumheller Lazenby, 79, of Statesville, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2016 at her residence. She was born on July 28, 1937 in West Springfield, Mass. to the late James W. and Ruth Mae Hosley Drumheller. Mrs. Lazenby was a graduate of Statesville Senior High School, Class of 1955 and attended college in her insurance career and to obtain her real estate license. She was married to Edgar Tuck Lazenby on October 5, 1956. They enjoyed almost 60 years of marriage before her passing. She was a member of First Baptist Church and was an insurance agent with Lazenby Insurance Agency before her retirement. Mrs. Lazenby was a previous member of the Women's Club, Altrusa, and Travel Tourism for Statesville where she headed the Weekend in the Village Committee and was Co-chair of the Bicentennial of the Constitution Committee. She was the first president of Travel Tourism for Statesville serving in that capacity from 1989 until 1993. She was active in her church where she was a previous Choir member and Girl Scout Leader. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James "Robert" Drumheller. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Tuck, of the home; two daughters, Sherry Lazenby Blackwelder (Dale) and Sandy Lazenby, both of Statesville; a grandson, Lee Blackwelder (Kara) of Iron Station, NC; a granddaughter, Karen Blackwelder Merchant (Shelby) of Cary, NC; and three great granddaughters, Aubrie and Emery Blackwelder, and Autumn Merchant; and a great grandson, Brecken Merchant. A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, October 6, 2016 at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Nelson Grenade officiating. A private family burial will be held prior to the service at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends following the service. At other times, the family will be assembled at the residence. The family would like to express their appreciation to Hospice of Iredell and to Home Instead for the love and care they provided Judy.
