Jr. L.W. Lambert

Luin Wilford Lambert, Jr., 87, of Olin, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 23, 2014, at his home. He was born April 18, 1926 in Wilkes County to the late Luin W. Lambert Sr. and Grace Gregory Lambert. He attended Wilkes and Iredell County schools. On January 10, 1947 he was married to Edith Lucille Pardue Lambert, who survives. He was a member of the Sweet Home Baptist Church. L.W. was self employed as a musician, music teacher, farmer and a tractor builder. He was well known in the Eastern portion of the United States as well as Canada for travelling with the L. W. Lambert and The Blue River Boys. Some highlights of his career were playing at the Lincoln Center in New York City, sharing a bill with Emmylou Harris, Norman Blake and the Whites. L.W. recorded albums that were entered into the Library of Congress for the Bi-Centennial. For most of his life he shared his musical talents with his family, his neighbors and his community. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Lavaughn Tomlin, Adell Compton and Jurell Herbert. Along with his loving wife , L.W. is survived by his two daughters, Phyllis L. Lowe (Joey Inscore) of Olin, Melissa L. Cornett (Tony) of Olin. Four grandchildren, Kristin Lowe, Kaleah Hendren (Bradley), Derrick Cornett, Mykecha Robertson (Rodney). He is further survived by seven great-grandchildren, Dylan Cornett, Grace Marie Cornett, Baylee McKenzie, Savannah Hendren, Jasmyn Lowe, Chloe Cornett and Emma Robertson, along with eight nieces and three nephews. Funeral services will be held 2:00PM Sunday, January 26, 2013 at Sweet Home Baptist Church with Pastor Gary Blalock and Rev. R.C. Redmond Jr. officiating. The family will visit with friends in the Fellowship Hall following the service. Mr. Lambert will lie in state for one hour prior to the service. Active pallbearers will be Rodney Tomlin, Josh Tomlin, Nick Tomlin, Dennis Padgett, John Pardue and Dennis Pardue. Memorials may be made to the Sweet Home Mission Fund, 7173 Warren Bridge Rd, Union Grove, NC 28689.
