Joyce Joann Cook

Joyce Joann Hartness Cook, 65, of Statesville, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital. She was born in Iredell County on March 3, 1950 to the late Vance and Hazel Pharr Hartness. Mrs. Hartness was educated in Alexander County Schools and was married to Clay Cook, who preceded her in death. She worked for Craftmasters as a sewer and retired from Intercraft where she was an assembler. She was a member of Poplar Springs Church of God. She was a loving mom, grandmother, and friend to many. Left to cherish her memory are a son, Mark Cook (Amanda Tomlin); a grandson, Hunter Cook; two brothers, Hank and Lucky Hartness; and a sister, Betty Murcock. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, June 1, 2015 at Poplar Springs Church of God with Rev. Steven L. Newman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends at the church prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00 PM.
