Joyce Irene Henderson

Mrs. Joyce Irene Hollars Henderson, 76, of Mooresville, passed away Monday, March 30, 2015, at her home following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Henderson was born in Blowing Rock, NC on August 1, 1938, and was the daughter of the late McKeever McKinnley Hollars and Carrie Earlean Hollars. She was a graduate of Blowing Rock School class of '56 and on November 22, 1959, married Thomas David Henderson, who preceded her in death. She was a member of Cochran Street Baptist Church and most recently attended New Perth ARP Church in Troutman for a number of years. Joyce retired as the owner/hairdresser at Kentwood Beauty Shop for over 30 years. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Henderson, three brothers, McKeever Jr., Clarence, and Jimmy Hollars and one sister, Lois Pitts. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Tammy Jo Henderson Reavis (Keith) and their son Kaleb Reavis of Mooresville along with grandson Nathan Henderson (Liz) and granddaughter, Mindy Henderson. She is also survived by three great grandchildren, Emma and Brooks Henderson and Madison Lackey, and four brothers, Wade Hollars (Joyce), Joe Hollars (Daisy), Max Hollars (Glenda), and Ted Hollars. Numerous nieces, nephews, and lots of special friends also survive. A private graveside service will be prior to the celebration of life which will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 4, 2015, at New Perth ARP Church with Rev. Dan Hazen and Rev. Robert Sherer officiating. The family will visit with friends following the service. Active pallbearers will be Mark and Mason Hollars, Sonny and Cole Hedrick, and Michael and Sterling Gilchrist. The family requests that all who attend Joyce's service to wear something that contains the color pink. Pink represents her favorite color. Pink is the symbol of Hope, and with Christ, there is always hope! In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
