Joseph Samuel "Sam" Owens

Joseph Samuel "Sam" Owens - 74, of Stokesdale, North Carolina, passed Thursday, April 14, 2022. He was born January 17, 1948, in Troy, North Carolina, to the late Joseph Lee Owens and Ozelle (Spake) Owens. Sam is a United States Army Veteran serving from 1967 to 1969 where he earned an Army Commendation Medal and a Purple Heart for Heroism. He loved fishing, playing golf, and the outdoors. He also enjoyed hunting. Sam married the love of his life Sandra Marie Martin on May 4, 1969, in High Point, North Carolina. Sam and Sandy were members of Amazing Grace Baptist Church in Stoneville. He was a Supervisor for Snow Lumber Company for many years. In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his son Joseph Todd Owens, his daughter in law Crystal Holland Owens, and his brother Jerry Owens. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 52 years, Sandra "Sandy" Owens; son Brian Keith Owens (wife Kristie) of Stokesdale, NC; sister Judy Carol Davis (husband Bill) of Sanford, NC; grandchildren, Kimberly Anne Mashburn (husband Joe) of Stokesdale, NC, Justin Aaron Owens, Joseph Sawyer Owens, and Gracie Elizabeth Marie Owens all of Stokesdale, NC; great-grandchildren, Ashlee Fletcher, Brylee Mashburn, and Charlee Mashburn. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 19th from 1:00PM to 2:00PM at Oak Level Baptist Church, 1569 Oak Level Church Road, Stokesdale, North Carolina 27357 with Pastor Howard Owens, and Rev. Jerry Walker officiating. Funeral Service will be at 2:00PM at the church immediately after the visitation. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
