Joseph Mounts

Joseph "Joe" Mounts, 53, of Statesville, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Welch, West Virginia on April 6, 1964 to the late Willie Mounts, Sr. and Pearl Hardin Mounts. Joseph attended Statesville City Schools and was married on October 17, 1981 to Lisa Kiser Mounts, who survives. They shared over 35 years of marriage before his passing. He had worked many years for International Paper. Joseph loved spending time with his grandchildren, riding his motorcycle, and his dog, Simon. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by twin brothers, Mickey and Ricky Mounts. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lisa; a daughter, Kristen Magallanes (Nicholas); a son, Joseph Scott Mounts (Jackie); grandchildren, Taylor Mounts, Ty and Jayse Magallanes; two brothers, Will Mounts, Jr. (Wilma) and Jimmy Mounts (Jill); two sisters, Freda Pratt (Keith) and Kaye Morris; mother and father-in-law, Dennis and Christine Byrd; brother and sister-in-law, David and Wendy Byrd; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held 6:30 Monday, October 2, 2017 at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Byrd officiating. The family will visit with friends prior to the service from 5:00 until 6:30 pm.
