Joseph "Joe" Allen Harris

April 14, 1954 — February 18, 2022

Joseph Allen Harris, known to everyone as Joe, 67, passed away Friday, February 18, 2022 at his home following a long period of declining health.

Joe was born April 14, 1954 in Iredell County and was the son of the late Lonnie Alexander Harris and Edna Anderson Harris. He was a graduate of North Iredell High School and on February 10, 1974, he married Patricia Mohler Harris and together they shared 46 years of marriage before her passing on Oct 28, 2020.

Joe was a member of Clarksbury Church. He had worked at Ingold Company for many years as a Master Welder, and he retired from Tyson Chicken, where he worked in the maintenance department.

Joe was a lifelong farmer. He enjoyed being outside and farming of all aspects: raising dairy cows, growing cotton and tobacco, and even helping with broiler chickens in his later years. He also enjoyed feeding birds, and he and Pat has bird feeders placed in numerous places throughout their property. Nothing compared to the time he spent with his family. Joe got great pleasure from attending his children and grandchildren's ballgames, recitals, concerts, and graduations. He had a knack for making each of his grandchildren feel special and loved, and he was so very proud of each one of them. Joe was a simple man with a caring heart. Joe will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Joe is survived by his three children, Melissa H. Whitaker, Billy Harris (Michelle), and Joshua Harris, all of Harmony, and six grandchildren, Kaitlyn & Gage Marshall, Lauren and Lex Harris, Nathan and James Harris.

A graveside funeral service honoring the life of Joe Harris will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday, February 21, 2022 at Clarksbury Church Cemetery with Chaplain Tangela Cameron officiating. Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Gage Marshall, Nathan Harris, Lex Harris, and James Harris. The family will speak with friends briefly following the graveside service.

Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625 or www.hoic.org.
