Statesville

Jonathan Lee Gregory, a beloved member of our community, was born on October 5, 1977, in Iredell County. He passed away peacefully on March 8, 2025, at Iredell Memorial Hospital, following a brief illness. He was known for his dedication as a great landscaper and spent many years working at El Tio's, where he touched the lives of countless customers and colleagues alike.

Jonathan had a profound love for helping others and was always ready to lend a hand to those in need. His faith was central to his life; as a devoted member of the Holiness faith, he cherished his relationship with Jesus Christ. His spirit of generosity was mirrored in his hobbies and interests, particularly his passion for gardening, landscaping, and tending to houseplants. An avid outdoorsman, Jonathan found joy in fishing and embraced his love for animals, often sharing stories about his adventures with friends. He was not only known for his green thumb but also for his culinary skills, as he was a very good cook who enjoyed delighting others with his creations.

His proudest moments were etched in memories of winning trophies while playing baseball, a testament to his spirited approach to life and dedication to excellence.

Jonathan is survived by his loving mother, Elizabeth Houston Gregory; his beloved son, Jonah Lee Gregory; and his cherished daughters, Jada and Jasmine. He was a devoted brother to Thomas Sparrow, Scott Gregory (Jennifer), Gene Johnson (Deb), Robert Allan Gregory, and sister Mary Beth Gregory Caplette (Sean). Jonathan's legacy continues through his four grandchildren, DJ Reddick, Sophia, Eli, and Liam Gregory. He also leaves behind a very special friend, Jigga Barber, and a treasured Auntie, along with many good friends, including Tasha, Loretta, Miguel, Kelley, Melissa, Brad, Veda, Cecil, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss him dearly.

Jonathan was preceded in death by his father, Everette Jackson Gregory; his daughter, Katherine Gregory; and his brother, Joey Gregory. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.
