Jonathan Francis Morris of Union Grove N.C. passed away unexpectedly on January 3, 2018. He was born on November 2, 1946 in Paddington (London) England. He was preceded in death by his parents Avril and William Simpson, son Rudi Morris and brother David Morris. He is survived by sons Roman Morris (Alison Morris), Jonathan Morris and Nick Hayes; grand-children Natalie and Alex Morris, brothers Tony and Robin Simpson, sisters Jenny Baker, Penny Berry, former wife Milena Morris and many other nephews and nieces in England and Australia. He spent his youth in the Actors Orphanage at Silverlands in Chertsey, Surrey England. He then went to Princes Risborough school and began an apprenticeship program at Detexomat Hosiery Technology in High Wycombe, England. Jon traveled the world during his career in the textile and wood industry. He was an expert with woodworking machinery used to make furniture, flooring, windows, doors and other wood products. Jon saw his career grow at Rye Machinery in England and eventually led to an opportunity with Michael Weinig GmbH. He and his family emigrated to Statesville, North Carolina in 1978 with Michael Weinig, beginning as a Sales Manager he saw his role evolve into the Marketing Manager eventually becoming an Independent Representative for the Weinig Group in Upstate New York and Western New England until his retirement in 2008. He had special relationships with major woodworking companies such as Andersen Windows, Marvin Windows, Steinway & Sons, Stickley Furniture and many others. He was very mechanical and enjoyed working on cars, doing home renovations and flying single engine planes. Jon loved spending time with his family and friends. With many active friendships going back to his childhood at Silverlands as well with former colleagues and clients. He also enjoyed spending Saturday mornings at the Cook Shack in Union Grove North Carolina with Pal and Miles Ireland and many others listening to bluegrass, folk and gospel music. He was known to give a helping hand to those in need, especially disadvantaged children. A service celebrating the life of Jon Morris will be held at Nicholson Funeral Home in Statesville on Saturday January 13th at 2 pm.
