Johnny Clinton Goforth

Johnny Clinton Goforth, 79, of Statesville passed away Wednesday December 12, 2018. He was born on December 19, 1938 to the late Jay Boyce and Margaret Hicks Goforth.



Johnny was educated in the Iredell County School System at Olin and Harmony schools. He served in the U.S. Army spending time in Texas and Germany. Johnny worked many years as an oil delivery man for Myers Oil, Beroth Oil and Milstead Oil Companies.



On August 1, 1959, he married the love of his life, Patsy Somers Goforth, who preceded him in death on February 12, 2013. He was also preceded in death by his parents as well as In-laws, Charlie and Leona Somers, and a special brother-in-law, Bill Robertson.



Johnny is survived by his children Tonja Goforth, Sheila Martin (Terry) and precious granddaughter Maggie Martin, all of Statesville; sister Viola "Tootie" Robertson of Cool Spring; and In-laws, Joyce and Ray Gossett, Norman Somers, James and Loretta Somers, and Richard and Christine Somers. He is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews as well as many dear and wonderful friends.



The funeral will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Hebron Baptist Church with Revs. Darren Johnson and William Wease officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with visitation following in the church Fellowship Hall.
