John Tom Tom) Cartner

John Thomas "John Tom" Cartner, 48, of Statesville, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 24, 2015, at his residence. Mr. Cartner was born in Iredell County on June 23, 1967, and was the son of John Lee Cartner and the late Penny Cartner. He was a graduate of West Iredell High School and was disability retired. He had the biggest heart and cared for anyone and everyone...he'd try to help everyone else while putting himself last and that's the truth. John Tom will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Left to cherish his memory are three daughters, Lauren Cartner (Josh Rogers), Jayden Deneese Cartner and Aliza Grace Cartner, all of Statesville, and one son, Davey Alex Cartner of Hickory. He is also survived by one grandson, David Lee Rogers of Statesville and one sister, Donna C. Mayberry (Doug) of Statesville. Funeral services for John Tom Cartner will be conducted 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 28, 2015, in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Curtis White officiating. The family will visit with friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Baptist Church Cemetery.
