John Thomas Lippard

Mr. John Thomas (Sonny) Lippard, Sr., of Statesville, passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at his home. Born in Iredell County on August 28, 1938, he was a son of the late John Hobbs Lippard and Estelle Robbins Lippard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Denise Stewart Lippard in 2009 and brothers: Jack and Gene Lippard and sisters: Helen Lippard Sherrill and Joann Lippard Danner along with a grandson, Timothy Tevepaugh. He was retired from Lippard Construction and loved fishing and working on and collecting old cars. Survivors include sons: David Lippard (Sheri), Johnny Lippard (Cassi) and Scott Lippard and a daughter, Kathy Tevepaugh. Also surviving are grandchildren: Jeffrey Lippard, Thomas Tevepaugh, Candace Lippard Tait, Kristin Kurley, Chelsey Lippard, Brianna Lippard, Sara Lippard, Brandon Lippard, Payton Hammer and Ethan Lippard. Also surviving are nine great grandchildren. Additional survivors include brothers, Kenneth Lippard and Danny Lippard (Linda) and sisters: Velma Kelley, Martha Williams, Betty Holsclaw (Bill) and Vivian Eades. Services celebrating Sonny's life will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 2, 2016 at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Iredell Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be: Barry Lippard, Kenny Lippard, Steve Crouch, Chris Crouch, Danny Lippard, Jr., Stan Lippard, John Williams and Gary Eades. The family will assemble at the residence of the deceased and will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday evening at Nicholson Funeral Home.
