John Stewart

Willard John Stewart, 64, of Statesville, passed away, Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at the Gordon Hospice House. Mr. Stewart was born June 10, 1947 in Mathney, WV and was the son of the late Alfred Kelly Stewart and WillaDene McAlpine Stewart. He attended Mathney Schools and Oceana High School in Mathney, WV and served in t he U.S. Army Special Forces from 1964-1968. He was a long distance truck driver for Cargo Transportation and disability retired in 2005. He was first married to the late Sherry Blouse Stewart and on Oct. 13, 2004, was married to Margaret Dorece McCoy Stewart, who survives of the home. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Eugene Stewart (Suzanne) of Statesville, Burt Stewart (Nicole) of Buffalo, NY, Hollis Stewart of Northtonwanda, NY. He is also survived by a sister, Edna Sue Cook of Matheny, WV along with two granddaughters, Page and Samantha Stewart, two step daughters, Shannon Eudy, Tamara Mills and two step grandchildren, Dylan Vargas and Alicia Lira. He was preceded in death by a half brother, Hylton Stewart and a brother, Rodney Stewart. Memorial services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 7, 2011 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at a later date. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home.
