John Stephen "Steve" Webb, 74, of Statesville, passed away Thursday, August 13, 2015 at the Gordon Hospice House. He was born in Rowan County on February 23, 1941 to the late John Henry and Edith Everhardt Webb. Steve was a graduate of Iredell County Schools, Mitchell Community College, and attended Lenoir Rhyne College. He served our country honorably in the U.S. Army. On August 16, 1964, he married Patricia "Pat" Ann Morrison Webb, who survives. They would have celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary today. He was a member of New Salem United Methodist Church. He was retired from Hoechst Celanese where he was a supervisor. He loved all outdoor activities, especially fishing, hunting, and working in his garden. The time he spent with the "kids" was special to him. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Scott Webb and a sister, Judy Webb Pharr. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Pat; a son, John Michael Webb (Amy) of Taylorsville; a daughter-in-law, Angie Mills Webb of Statesville; two grandsons, Michael Dale Webb (Crystal) and Connor Scott Webb; three granddaughters, Logan Elizabeth Webb, Sydney Grace Webb, and Cheyann Renee Webb; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, August 17, 2015 at New Salem United Methodist Church with Rev. David Gay officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends in the fellowship hall following the graveside service.
