John Sidney Holton

John Sidney Holton, 70, of Statesville, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Iredell Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.

John was born in Iredell County on December 5, 1948 and was the son of the late Luther L. Holton, Sr and Lucille Dobson Holton. He was a graduate of North Iredell High School and he attended N.C. State. On February 8, 1971 he married Mary Frances Fox Holton and together they shared 48 years of marriage until his passing.

John was a member of Providence United Methodist Church. He was owner/operator of Piedmont Plants for over 20 years.

John enjoyed his plant business and was dedicated to producing quality plants. He loved doing the crossword puzzles in the newspaper every day along with hanging out with his dog "Jack". He especially enjoyed the time spent with his son John on Thursday night pizza & wing at the 1849.

In addition to his wife Mary, John is survived by his son, John Holton along with three brothers, Tommy Holton, Luther Holton (Carol), and Jeff Holton, all of Statesville and his K-9 companion "Jack". He is further survived by two brothers-in-law, Doug Fox and Richard Fox (Dana) of Statesville along with two nephews and one niece.

A service to celebrate the life of John Holton will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at Providence UMC. The family will visit with friends for one hour prior to the service.
