John "Johnny" Ray White

John "Johnny" Ray White, 66, of Dobson, passed away Saturday, December 05, 2015 at his residence. He was born in Brevard, NC on May 3, 1949 to the late Claude "C.S." White, Jr. and Gladys Clark White. John was educated in Union Grove Schools and served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. He was first married to Sharon Pope White, who preceded him in death and later married Wanda Haymore White, who survives. John was retired from Dana Corporation where he was a machine operator and was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Wanda; a son, Chadwick Ray White (Patricia); a granddaughter, Emma Grace White; two grandsons, Anderson "Andy" Paul White and Jonas River White; two step daughters, Gay Clarkson (Stuart) and Jan Davis (Todd), a step-son Mark Sprinkle; three step granddaughters, Katie Wilson (Matt), Kimberly Ford (Jonathan); and Mallory Sprinkle; two step grandsons, Neil Luebchow and Paul Sprinkle; two great grandsons, Myles Wilson and Cody Ford; two sisters, Linda White Hopper (Gene) and Sharon White Galliher (Dennis); and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. White will be held 3:00PM Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Olin with Rev. David Childress and Rev. Jeff Wall officiating. Burial with full military honors provided by the Iredell County Veterans Burial Detail will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends at the church from 2:00 until 3:00PM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030 or to Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 145 Mount Vernon Church Road, Olin, NC 28660.
