John "Jack" William Tymon, Sr.

Mr. John "Jack" William Tymon, Sr., 87, of Statesville, NC, passed away, Tuesday, January 19, 2016. Jack Tymon was born on August 27, 1928 in Stamford, CT, he is the son of the late James and Elizabeth Phelan Tymon. He is survived by the love of his life Ruth Fox Tymon, his wife of 62 blessed and very happy years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Robin Tymon of Statesville, Tammy T. Mulrooney of Statesville, Kelley T. Gutowski (Ben) of NH, Cindy T. Garrity (Ward) of CT; two sons, Jack Tymon, Jr. (Sue) of NH, Kevin Tymon (Dawn) of CT; one sister, Kathleen T. Herbert of FL and a truly devoted Irish clan of 34 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Jack was predeceased by two daughters, Karen Thagouras of NH and Tracy Tymon of CT. Jack so proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, and was a faithful member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a devote parishioner of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Statesville, NC. He was a self-employed mason by trade and was a true artist in that trade, a skill which he passed onto his sons. Jack was an avid hunter, fisherman and had a green thumb when it came to his garden. He loved to watch football and was a huge fan of Notre Dame and the NE Patriots. Family was his entire world. His wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were his sunshine and what made his life complete. A funeral mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 22, 2016 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church with Father Peter Fitzgibbons. Burial and services will be held at a later date in Stamford, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project and online condolences may be made to the family at www.nicholsonfunerals.com Nicholson Funeral Home of Statesville, NC is serving the family of Jack Tymon, Sr.
