John Alexander Sloan

John Alexander Sloan, age 50, of Hickory passed away December 19, 2021. He was born October 8, 1971 in Iredell County, NC the son of Wilford Sloan and Glenda Sherrill Sloan.

John honorably served his country in the United States Army. He enjoyed playing guitar, listening to classic rock, hunting, fishing and watching sports. He enjoyed spending time with his niece teaching her the guitar, going to the mountains and beach or mentoring children. John was employed with Interstate Foam.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Wilford Sloan and Glenda Sherrill Sloan; sister, Amanda Sloan Clark and husband Patrick; niece, Maddie Clark; aunt, Brenda Dobson; uncle, Stephen Sloan; cousins, Robert Mash, Chad Mash, Thomas Dobson Jr., Lisa Johnson, Zachary Sloan and Amber Sloan; close friend, Gardner Berry; and numerous other family and friends.

A visitation will be held Thursday, December 23, 2021 from 6 PM until 8 PM at Nicholson Funeral Home, 135 E. Front Street, Statesville, NC.

Memorials may be made in John's honor to Beulah Baptist Church, Kids Department, 1851 Old Mountain Road, Statesville, NC 28677.
