Mr. Joe Stacy Jolly, Jr., 81, of Statesville, died peacefully at home on Sunday, March 8, 2015 after an extended illness. He was born on September 12, 1933 in Iredell County and was a son of the late Joe Stacy Jolly, Sr. and Florence Patterson Jolly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Peggy Jolly Hayes and three brothers, William, Frank and Jack Jolly. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lynn Dowell Jolly, one son, Dr. Thomas Jolly and his wife, Ginny of Advance, one grandson, Michael Jolly of Winston-Salem, one granddaughter, Stacy Jolly of New York City, New York along with two sisters, Pat Jolly Bell and husband, Von and Josephine Jolly Dowell all of Statesville, two brothers, Dale and Terry Jolly both of Statesville and a sister-in-law, Ada R. Jolly of Lexington, S.C. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and in-laws. Joe grew up in Iredell County and soon after his marriage in 1956 he and his wife moved to Charlotte where they made their home for almost 40 years. He was employed for a number of years at Weyerhauser Corp. and later retired after 20 years of employment with the N.C. Dept. Of Transportation. After retirement in the 1990's he and his wife returned to Iredell County where they made their home in the Olin Community. Joe was a kind and generous man of few words, soft spoken words of wisdom. He had a quiet and selfless nature and a caring and compassionate heart with a faithful and abiding devotion to his family. He was a life long member of Rocky Hill Baptist Church where services celebrating his life will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday with Rev. Henry Cook officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family wishes to thank Dr. Carla Pence, Hospice & Palliative Care Of Iredell County and the members of Rocky Hill Baptist Church for providing outstanding love and support throughout his illness.
