Joe Garland Benfield Jr.

Joe Benfield Jr. was born on June 6, 1953 in Statesville he died peacefully on December 18, 2024. 

Joe attended Statesville High School and then proudly served in the U.S. Army. Upon his honorable discharge he attended Mitchell Community College on the G.I. Bill to become an electrician.

Joe Benfield is the son of Joe Benfield Sr. and Elizabeth Ann Mayberry Benfield. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jennifer Mills. 

Joe is survived by his fiancé, Lynn Bennett , his sister, Velda Frowine and many extended family members and friends. 

Joe was known for his humor and love of conversation , he could talk to anyone and often brought a smile to others . He had a gift for fixing just about anything. He also enjoyed bartering and bargaining, Joe loved going to the Lunch Box where he relished the friendships of fellow patrons and staff. 

Joe will be remembered for his humor, resourcefulness and loyalty to those close to him. 

A service to honor Joe’s life will be held at The National Veterans Cemetery in Salisbury, N.C. on January 3, 2025 at 2:30 P.M.
