Joan Meredith Holland

Joan Bell Holland, 73, of Statesville, departed this world and entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, July 6, 2018. She was born in Iredell County on December 13, 1944 to the late Francis Marion Bell, Sr. and Mary Lou Tucker Bell.



Joan was a graduate of Cool Spring High School and Lenoir Rhyne College where she received a degree in Education. She was married to Robert "Bob" Eugene Holland on July 26, 1963 and they shared almost 55 years of marriage before her passing. Joan was a school teacher for 30 years serving at Pressley Elementary School. After retirement, she helped on the family farm. She was a life long member of Diamond Hill Baptist Church. Joan loved going to the beach and shopping. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be dearly missed.



Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Bob; four sons, Robert "Robbie" M. Holland (Barbara), Ashley Bell Holland (Shiloh), Jonathan Wesley Holland, and Michael "Shane" Holland (Michelle); seven grandchildren, Meredith, Garrett, Noah, Morgan, Triston, Skye, and Landri; and one great granddaughter, Braylie. She is also survived by three brothers, Marion F. Bell Jr. (Brenda), Dennis Bell, and Terry Bell; and a number of nieces and nephews.



Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Diamond Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Holleman officiating. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will visit with friends at the church from 1:00 until 2:00 pm prior to the service. Pallbearers will be her sons and grandson, Triston Briggs.
