Joan Evelyn Elam

Joan Evelyn Elam, 58, of Statesville, passed away, Friday, October 26, 2018 at her home.



Joan was born March 7, 1960 in Statesville and was the daughter of Myra Henderson Elam and the late John Charles Elam, who passed away November 14, 2014.She was a graduate of North Iredell High School, class of 78' and University of N.C. at Charlotte, class of 82'. She was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher and was a retired social worker for the Iredell County Dept. of Social Services. Joan loved to travel, read and enjoyed listening to "The Gaither Homecoming Series".



In addition to her mother, she is survived by a sister, Shelia Elam Isenhour and husband, Allen of Oak Island; two nephews, Nicholas Allen Isenhour (Charlene) of Fuquay-Varina, Tyler Jacob Isenhour of Wilmington, her pug baby, Susie Elam and close friend, Faye Morrow of Concord.



Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Holly Springs Baptist Church with Dr. Cliff Gwaltney and Chaplain Sharon Snow officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends following the service. Pallbearers will be Edward Elam, Jr., Robert Layne, Dennis Etzkorn, John Sharpe, Al Jones, Justin Elam and Jonathon Elam.
