Jimmy Mccoy

James H. "Jimmy" McCoy, 76, of Statesville passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2020 surrounded by family at Iredell Memorial Hospital.

Jimmy was born June 15, 1943 in Iredell County and was the son of the late David Glenn McCoy and Allie Warren McCoy. He was also preceded in death by three brothers; Tom, Donnie and Ronnie McCoy and two sisters; Billie Morrison and Mary Ann Summers.

Jimmy graduated from Cool Springs High School and worked for Statesville Insulation for 30 years and then started his own business, Do It Right Tile Co. until retirement.

Jimmy loved hunting, fishing, playing softball and coaching ICYAA girls in basketball for 13 years. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchild.

He is survived by his wife and best friend of 57 years, Janet Tilley McCoy. They enjoyed traveling and doing things together as a loving team. Other survivors include 2 sons; Lanny McCoy of Statesville, Ronnie McCoy (Colleen) of Statesville, grandchildren; Derrick McCoy (Ilse), Ryan McCoy, Colton McCoy all of Statesville, and Josh Rodriguez of Hilton Head, SC, a great-granddaughter; Amelia Jae McCoy, 2 brothers; David Glenn McCoy, Jr. of Troutman, Rex McCoy of Statesville and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be held Sunday, February 2, 2020 at 3:00 pm at Providence United Methodist Church. The family will visit with family and friends from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm prior to the service at the church.
