Jimmie Lee Tomlin

January 5, 1933 — March 28, 2018

Jimmie Tomlin was born in 1933 to James Clarence and Lois Faye Norris Tomlin. Jimmie had a sister, Martha (deceased), and two brothers, Joe (deceased) and Ralph. With the exception of his military service, Jimmie has been a life-long resident of Statesville. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force, with three years based in Scotland. Jimmie was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant. In 1957, Jimmie married Mary McLelland. They shared 49 wonderful years of marriage until her death in 2006. They had one son, Andy, who is married to Sheila. They are the parents of Jimmie's two grandsons, Hunter and Daniel. Andy, Sheila and the grandsons have looked after Jimmie since Mary's death in 2006. For the past several years, Jimmie has been a resident of Brookdale Senior Living on Peachtree.



Jimmie worked at Auto Parts and Electric for 17 years. In 1970, he started his own business, Statesville Auto Supply. Throughout his life, Jimmie was an active church member. He was a member of Oakland Presbyterian Church (previously Front Street Presbyterian Church) prior to joining Covenant ARP Church. He served as deacon, elder, Sunday School superintendent, choir member and Boy Scout Leader. Jimmie also served his community as a longtime volunteer fireman. Throughout his life, Jimmie enjoyed many good friendships and will be greatly missed by many.



Graveside funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2018 at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Steve Snipes officiating. The family will speak with friends following the service and Jimmie will lie in state until the funeral service at Nicholson Funeral Home.
