Jim Snow

Mr. James Thomas Cephus Snow, 90, of Statesville, passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Gordon Hospice House. Mr. Snow was born October 1, 1922 in Iredell County and was the son of the late Rev. Cephus Leroy Snow and Bessy Salmons Snow. He was a graduate of Bradley County High School in Cleveland, TN. He was married to Mildred Roscoe Snow, who preceded him in death on February 13, 1996. Mr. Snow was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Snow was a member of Wesley UMC where he served in many capacities which included former President and Vice President of Methodist Men, Scout leader, President of Wesley Adult Fellowship. He also served as President of the Senior High Booster Club in 1971 and assistant Scout Master for Wesley Memorial #357. Mr. Snow was a machinist with Southern Screw and following his retirement, he worked for the Statesville Police Department as a school crossing guard and retired after 18 years of service. Mr. Snow is survived by one daughter, Susan Snow Wall of Mcleansville, NC and one son, Jerald Thomas Snow (Patricia) of Statesville along with five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 7:00 pm at Nicholson Funeral Home and a service will follow immediately following the visitation starting at 7:00 pm and will be conducted by Rev. Karen Miller. A graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 am Thursday morning at Oakwood Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
