Jerry "Wayne" Mchargue

October 9, 1951 — August 6, 2021

Jerry "Wayne" McHargue, 69, passed away on August 6, 2021, at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, NC. Born on October 9, 1951, Wayne was the son of the late James Harvey McHargue, Sr. and Sarah Little McHargue Robinson. In addition, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Harvey McHargue, Jr.

Before retiring, he worked as a heavy equipment mechanic. He enjoyed woodworking, spending time with family and friends, as well as, watching wrestling and auto racing. He was a kind, loving man with a great sense of humor and a big heart. You could always count on Pappy Wayne for anything. He was always ready to offer his kind words, sound advice, and helping hands. He was a devoted father, grandfather (Pappy), brother, uncle, and friend.

He is survived by his daughter, April Elmore (Phil) and granddaughter, Hannah Scott (Matt). Also left to cherish his memory are his sisters Elaine Turner (Danny), Theresa McHargue, Karen Howard (Keith) and; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins; and dear friends Daniel and Libbie Selvey.

A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 21, 2021 in the Chapel of Nicholson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the staff at Gordon Hospice House for their loving care and support.
