Jerry Feimster Beatty, 78, of Statesville, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2018 at the Gordon Hospice House. Mr. Beatty was born in Iredell County on June 2, 1940 and was the son of the late Howard I. Beatty and Lina Feimster Beatty.
He was a graduate of Celeste Henkel School and a veteran of the National Guard. He was a retired heavy equipment operator and diesel mechanic with Rea Construction. He had over 33 years of service of which he never missed a day of work.
On May 2, 1970 he married Selene Miller Beatty and together they shared 48 years of marriage until his death.
Mr. Beatty was a member of Monticello United Methodist Church and served as an usher.
Jerry was a man of many talents. In addition to working as a diesel mechanic, he was also a very good handyman. He was an exceptional gardener and he raised wonderful produce and delicious blackberries. He loved to share his abundance with family and friends. Jerry had a great love for old hit-and-miss engines and taking his International tractors to shows and on tractor rides, hobbies he shared with his dear friends Harry Gibson and Larry King. Jerry was an honest and sincere man and he loved his church and church family. Nothing compared to the love he had for his wife Selene and their two children, Dale and Amber, and his grandchildren who he had a special bond with. Jerry will be deeply missed by family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Dale Beatty.
Along with his wife, he is also survived by one daughter, Amber B. Hepler (Micheal) of Harmony, four grandchildren, Miceala Hepler of Harmony, Dustin, Lucas and Sophia Beatty and a daughter-in-law Belinda Beatty, all of Statesville. He is also survived by one sister, Doris B. Talbert of Statesville and two brothers, Norman Beatty (Ruby) of Statesville and Allen Beatty (Gayle) of Mooresville along with a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services honoring the life of Jerry Beatty will be conducted at 1:00 PM Wednesday, October 10 at Monticello UMC with Rev. Amy Spivey and Chaplain Brad Borders officiating. Burial will follow in Iredell Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 11:30 until 1:00 PM at the church. Active pallbearers will be Adam Beatty, B.J., Eric, and Michael Berg, John Gallina and John-David Miller.
