Jeffrey Caroll Benfield

Jeffrey "Jeff" Caroll Benfield 66, of Statesville died on June 4, 2024, at the Gordon Hospice House.

Born in Sioux City, Iowa, he was the son of the late Harvey S. (Benny) Benfield Jr. and the late Barbara Gregory Benfield. 

Jeff was a member of  First Baptist Church, Statesville,  and a graduate of West Iredell High School. He joined the Air Force and served for 20 years, 10 of which were in Europe. After retiring he went on to receive a master's degree in Information Technology from the University of Phoenix. He then served as the IT Director at Mitchell Community College for 20+ years. Jeff used his musical talents along with his family to serve in the community. Being a true outdoorsman, Jeff enjoyed hiking in Linville Gorge, river rafting and rock climbing with his friends. He leaves behind his best friend...his dog Loki.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years Elizabeth Deal Benfield, a son Daniel Benfield (Samantha), a daughter Jennifer Jessup (David), seven grandchildren; Uriah Benfield, Eden Benfield, Shiloh Benfield, Abigail Scott, Jack Scott, Luke Jessup, Miles Jessup, a brother Randy Benfield (Ronda), and two sisters Retha Davis (Kevin) and Kristina Ferri and several nieces and nephews.

Services for the Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 2:00pm at First Baptist Church, Statesville, with Dr. Nelson Granade & Pastor Brian Burgess officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30pm to 1:45pm prior to the service at the church.
