Jeanette Shumaker Nicholson

June 18, 1926 — March 22, 2016

Mrs. Jeanette Shumaker Nicholson, 89, of Statesville, died Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Born in Guilford County on June 18, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Dewey Clarence Shumaker and Hessie Johnson Shumaker. She was a member of Rose Chapel United Methodist Church where she was faithful to Sunday school and was an avid seamstress and wonderful cook. She retired from Spainhours. Mrs. Nicholson was preceded in death by her husband, Coite Wayne Nicholson, brothers D.C. Shumaker, Jr and Jimmy T. Shumaker and a sister, Mildred Cook. Survivors include sons: Danny Wayne Nicholson (Patsy) and Jeffrey Kent Nicholson (Tamara) all of Morganton and daughters: Teresa N. Brown (Doug) of Mooresville, Trudy N. Eaton (Charlie) of Charlotte and Penny N. Welty of Advance. Also surviving are sisters: Betty Smith, Pat Combs and Sib Johnson all of Statesville and a sister-in-law, Ruth Shumaker also of Statesville. Additional survivors include 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Services celebrating Mrs. Nicholson's life will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Rose Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Ralph Lepley and Rev. Lynne Lepley officiating. A private burial will precede the service. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Condolences may be sent online to the family to www.nicholsonfunerals.com.
