Elvia Jeanette Goforth, 76, of Statesville, passed away Monday, May 27, 2013 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Born May 11, 1937 in Iredell County, Ms. Goforth was the daughter of the late Lonnie (L.G.) Garfield Goforth and Gertrude Virginia Warden Goforth. She was a graduate of Cool Springs High School Class of 1955 and she was a charter member of Faith Baptist Church. Jeanette found enjoyment in traveling and doing yard work. Ms. Goforth was a respiratory therapist and had worked in Myrtle Beach and also with Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem before retiring in 1989. She also worked at Wal-Mart where she retired in 2010. In addition to her parents, Ms. Goforth was preceded in death by a brother, L.G. Goforth, Jr, a sister, Ella Mae Goforth and a sister-in-law, Carolyn L. Goforth. She is survived by two sisters, Ada G. Thomas of Charlotte and Doris G. Williard (T.S.) of Statesville along with two brothers, Hoyle Goforth of Mooresville and D.W. Goforth (Caroleta) of Statesville. She is further survived by a special friend, Diane Alley of Statesville and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Ms. Goforth will be conducted 3:00 PM Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Faith Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Goforth officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 1:00 until 3:00 pm at the church. Active pallbearers will be Matt Williard, Robert and Barry Thomas, Robert and Ramone Thompson and Keith Goforth. Memorials can be made in Ms. Goforth's honor to the charity of the donor's choice.
