Jean Owensby Jolly

Vera Jean Owensby Jolly, 58, of Hamptonville, NC passed away, Monday, October 27, 2014 at the Gordon Hospice House. Ms. Jolly was born June 4, 1956 in Spindale, NC and was the daughter of the late Jesse James Owensby, Sr. and Ella Louise Hawkins Owensby. She attended Statesville High School and later received her GED. She was a CNA, with Doris Honeycutt Healthcare Home (Home Services Unlimited). She was a member of Eagle Mills Assembly of God and loved taking care of children, being a great caregiver, getting children to church and doing the Lord's work. She is survived by two sons, Randy Sharpe (Cissy) of Statesville, Frank Sharpe (Sherry) of Statesville; two daughters, Trina Dillard (Kenneth) of Statesville, Patricia Lautt (Larry) of Tennessee; six grandchildren, Francesca Jade Castellon, Maddaline Rose Lautt, Jocelyn Marie Prittchard, Makayla Dawn Dillard, Zachery Jacob Dillard, Joshua Allen King; significant other, Clay York; two sisters, Vivian "Vicky" Renee Haynes of Lake Lure, NC, Carolyn Marie Tapp of Inman, SC and one brother, Norris Alfred Hawkins of Asheville and best friend, Robin Somers Harwell of Statesville. She was preceded in death by one son, John McArthur Sharpe, Jr. and two brothers, Jesse James "Jimmy" Owensby, Jr. and Billy Wayne Owensby. Funeral services will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Eagle Mills Assembly of God in Hamptonville, NC with Pastor John Abernathy officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gordon Hospice House or to the family at Nicholson Funeral Home. Nicholson Funeral Home is serving the family of Vera Jolly.
