Janie Milholland

Mrs. Janie Wilson Milholland, 92, of Statesville, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2013, at the Gordon Hospice House. Mrs. Milholland was born August 31, 1921 in Franklin County, NC and was the daughter of the late Alexander and Gladys Brown Wilson. She was a graduate of Statesville High School and on the 13 of February 1943 she married the late John Locke Milholland, Jr, who preceded her in death. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and had been active in her garden clubs, her church circle, and bridge clubs. She will be missed and was loved by all who knew her. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Shannon Neely. She is survived by two sons, John L. Milholland, III (Sandra) of Statesville and Jim Milholland (Ellen) of Roswell, GA; two daughters, Janie Neely of Weaverville, NC and Jeanne Milholland (Craig Pheiffer) of Santa Fe, NM. Her grandchildren are Meagan Neely of Durham, NC, Karen Alley of Elkin, J. Locke Milholland, IV of Raleigh, Brandon Milholland of NY, and Joe Milholland of Roswell, GA. Four great grandchildren, Carolyn, Carter, and Craig Alley, and Saoirse Milholland also survive. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be conducted 3:00 pm Friday, December 20, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Steve Scott officiating. The family will visit with friends following the service at the church. The family would like to thank the staff at Gordon Hospice House for their care and concern during her stay there.
