Janice Marie Williams Jonaitis, age 69, an accomplished individual known for her accounting and law enforcement work, passed away on February 24, 2024, at Carolina Caring in Newton. She was born at St. Therese Hospital in Waukegan, IL on July 4, 1954 to the late Robert Francis Williams and Agnes Patricia Jonaitis Williams.
Janice pursued a diverse educational path, graduating from Mountain View Bible College in Didsbury, Alberta, Canada, attending Seminary in Oregon, and ultimately obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Nursing Home Administration in Colorado Springs, CO. Her professional journey led her to work as an accountant at David C. Cook Publishing Company in Colorado Springs and as an officer in the prison system in Kansas.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Francis Williams and Agnes Patricia Jonaitis Williams; her brothers, Paul Williams, Brian Williams, John Williams, and William Patrick Williams; and her niece, Elizabeth Vigardt; and nephew, Caleb Williams.
In addition to her professional endeavors, Janice held a deep commitment to her family. She is survived by her sisters, Mary Williams and Kay (Joel) Vigardt; brothers, Tom (Gwen) Williams, Bob (Beverly) Williams, Donald Williams, and Jeff Williams; nieces and nephews, Lucas (Zuzi) Williams, Robert (Stephanie) Williams, Heather (Erick) Bishop, Gus (Ashley) Williams, Barbara (Jay) Lichtenauer, Aaron (April) Vigardt, Christopher (Rachael) Vigardt, and Danielle (Sean) Vandenbergh; as well as great-nieces and great-nephew, Miles Vandenbergh, Hazel Vandenbergh, Hannah (Nick Pickard) Vigardt, Michael Ree, John Ree, Ruth Lichtenauer, Nora Lichtenauer, Nathan Lichtenauer, Agnes Vigardt, Ella Vigardt, Kai Vigardt, Keagan Vigardt, and Connor Vigardt.
Janice's legacy will be remembered through her hard work, dedication to family, and contributions to the community. She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. A life so beautiful, a heart so deeply loving, who helped others be inspired by her passions and visions. Together, let us commemorate Janice’s earthly life well lived and that she is now joyous in Heaven with our Lord. A Springtime burial of Janice's cremated remains will take place at Ascension Cemetery and Mausoleum in Libertyville, IL.
