Janice Dempsey

January 16, 1943 — January 25, 2025

In Loving Memory of Janice Sue Heath Dempsey

It is with deep sorrow, yet with unshakable hope, that we announce the passing of Janice Dempsey, who went home to be with the Lord on January 25, 2025 at the age of 82.

While we grieve our loss, we rejoice in the assurance that Janice is now in the presence of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer, forevermore. A funeral service for Janice will be Friday, January 31 at 2 PM at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Agee officiating.

Survivors include her son, Van Dempsey, his wife, Ashley; her grandchildren, Madeline and Jackson Dempsey; her brother and sister-in-law, Don and Linda Heath as well as her niece and nephew.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Larry Dempsey, and her sister, Patricia Ledbetter.

Janice was a member of Parker Memorial Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Anniston High School, class of 1961, and attended Jacksonville State University where she met Larry Dempsey. Janice lived a life full of love, kindness, and devotion, not only to family and friends but, most importantly, to the Lord. Her faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior was unwavering, and it was that faith that defined every aspect of her life. Janice believed that Christ, the Son of God, was sent to save the world from sin and death, and that through His death, burial, and resurrection, all who believe in Him are granted eternal life. Through her life and actions, Janice proclaimed the gospel of Jesus Christ. She knew that salvation is a free gift, offered by God’s grace alone, and that no one can earn or deserve it. It is only by faith in Christ’s finished work on the cross that anyone can be reconciled to God. With her life, Janice encouraged everyone to repent and trust in Christ, who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.  While we mourn, we are comforted by the promises of Scripture. As 1 Thessalonians 4:14 reminds us, “For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in Him.” Janice is now part of that great cloud of witnesses, and we look forward to the day when we will be reunited with her in glory. We take comfort in the words of the Apostle Paul: “For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain” (Philippians 1:21). Janice has truly gained all that Christ has promised, and though our hearts are heavy, we know that they are now home with the Lord. May the peace of Christ, which transcends all understanding, guard your hearts and minds in Him.“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16
