Janet L. Wilkens of Weeki Wachee, Florida was born on March 20, 1932, in Emma, Missouri and passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 26, 2023. Janet was preceded in death by her husband Donald Wilkens and all nine of her siblings. Janet is survived by her sons Keith (Jeanne) and Craig (Lisa), 3 grandchildren Kara, Shana, and Tyler, 4 great-grandchildren, and many extended family members.
Janet was a high school homecoming queen. She met her husband Don on the softball field when as an umpire he called her out at first base when she was clearly safe. They married three years later, started a family, and moved from Missouri, to Ohio, to Wisconsin, and then Florida.
Janet was active in many Glen Lakes Country Club activities and was club champion in 2002. She also served as a member of the PEO sisterhood. At 77 years young she attained her real estate license and a few years later was named as one of the top real estate agents in Hernando County.
Our family is forever grateful for the assistance provided by Dr. Rau, Dr. Sastry, Dr. Dutt, and her good friend Joyce Greco. Janet would frequently comment about how much support she received from her many friends and extended family members as well.
Keith and Craig are grateful for Janet being the best mom ever and for cleaning the grass stains from their baseball uniforms for years. Through her actions she taught many the lessons of living life to the fullest, having faith, having fun, and the importance of laughing, singing, and dancing.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you donate in memory of Janet Wilkens
