James Tony Gaither

March 30, 1943 — August 28, 2018

On August 28, 2018, James Tony Gaither, went home to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jimmy was born in Statesville on March 30, 1943, to James Marvin Gaither and Lois Vickers Gaither, who both proceeded him in death. Jimmy was a barber for 47 years and most of those years spent at Forest Heights Barber Shop where he was part owner. He was an avid sports man, hunter and fisherman and loved the Atlanta Braves. He was married to Carol Turner Gaither who proceeded his death. He was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. He is survived by a brother Larry Gaither of Texas. Also surviving are his three children, Michael Gaither (Crystal) of Michigan, daughter Kimberly Gaither of Maine and son Richard Gaither (Ingrid) of Maine. Also surviving are grandchildren, Jamie and Katie Gaither of Michigan, Casey Gaither and James S. Gaither of Maine, and step grandchildren Ryan and Julie Wilson of Michigan.







The family wishes to acknowledge two special friends, Benny Duncan and a special step daughter, Debbie Hall, who were both loving caretakers during his battle with cancer.







Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Friday, August 31, 2018 at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Talmadge Hollar, Rev. James Moore, and Rev. Benny Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends at the church prior to the service from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 pm.
