James Reece Mash, 65, of Statesville, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. He was born on October 11, 1949 in Wilkes County to the late Mont and Clara Mash. James was married on June 8, 1991 to Ella Dean Lowry Mash, who survives. They had over 23 years of marriage before his passing. He was a long time employee of the Statesville Record and Landmark before his health forced his retirement. He was a member of Gloryland Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Derek Oxendine; a granddaughter, Brandi Oxendine; three brothers, Holbert, Clayton, and Edward Mash; and one sister, Audrey Huffman. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ella of the home; three daughters, Angela Oxendine of Taylorsville, Miranda Oxendine of Lumberton, and Dedra Lowry of Taylorsville; one son, Toby Oxendine of Lumberton; a grandson, Cory Clark of Cleveland; a granddaughter, Kassidy Wooten of Statesville, two foster children, Mark and Scotty Hager; and three great grandchildren. He is further survived by four sisters, Mildred Pharr, Loraine Crawford, Nellie Parsons, and Nona Mash; and four brothers, Carl, Wayne, Arvil, and Gilbert Mash. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, March 20, 2015 at Gloryland Baptist Church with Pastor Blain Keaton officiating. There will be a private family burial in Lowry Family Cemetery in Lumberton, NC.
