James Oscar Billings

Mr. James Oscar "Jim" Billings, 86, of Statesville, passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at the Brian Center of Statesville.



Mr. Billings was born in Iredell County on November 29, 1932 and was the son of the late John Reid Billings and Pernie Mae Mize Billings. He was a graduate of Troutman High School and received his business degree from Kings College. Mr. Billings was a veteran of the U.S. Army.



He was retired from FCX Inc. where he worked as a supervisor and later retired from Tray's Express.



In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his step-mother, Cora Billings along with two sons, Michael Scott and Joel Ray Billings and a brother, Butch Billings.



Left to cherish his memory is one daughter, Debbie B. Freeze (Jeff) of Statesville and three grandsons, Brad Freeze (Lara), Josh Billings and Michael Billings and two granddaughters, Kristen Freeze and Lauren Thompson. He is further survived by a daughter-in-law Kelly Eagle and five great-grandchildren.



A graveside funeral service honoring the life of James Billings will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday in Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Dr. J.B. Parker, Jr. officiating. The family will speak with friends following the graveside services.
