Mr. James "Jimmy" Mitchell Hooper, 70, of Statesville, passed away, Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at the Gordon Hospice House following a lengthy illness. Jimmy was born June 27, 1945 in Statesville, NC and was the son of Treva Flinchum Hooper of Statesville and the late Mitchell White Hooper, who died in 1976. He was a graduate of Statesville High School and served in the US Army honorably during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Calvary Community Church, dearly loved all animals and never met a stranger. In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister, Doris Carson (Steve) of Statesville and a special aunt, Vera Lackey. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 7, 2015 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Coley officiating. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery with full military honors. The family will visit with friends on Saturday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Gordon Hospice House, 2347 Simonton Dr., Statesville, NC 28625. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Heritage Place Memory Care Facility for their loving care for Jimmy. Nicholson Funeral Home is serving the family of Jimmy Hooper.
