James Michael West

James Michael West, 47, of Statesville, N.C., passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, April 7, 2015. He was born July 8, 1967, in Raleigh, N.C., and was a son of Roy Clayton West and Barbara Slane West. Jamie was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Jamie attended Brookwood School and was a 1986 graduate of Statesville Senior High School. He worked for P.S. West Construction Company. His favorite pastimes were watching all sports, especially UNC athletic events, fishing and playing golf. His love of sports led him to assist with WSIC radio's early morning broadcast with Harold Johnson. In addition to his parents, Jamie is survived by his aunts and uncles Thomas Alva Slane and Mary Anne West Slane, Dan and Jane Mitchell and Patsy Slane Ebert. Also surviving are cousins Tracy Slane Turner and Thomas Campbell Turner; Daniel Webster Mitchell, Kelly Mitchell Davis, Patrick Davis, Mitchell Davis,Kristy Freiburger Mitchell and Katelyn, Ellie and Daniel Mitchell, Thomas Clayton Slane and Ellen Robinson Slane, Rhoid Brandon Holland III, and Julie Hopkins Holland, Chris and Slane Lightburne and Jack and Kate Lightburne, and many loving other cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 10, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Stephen Scott and Dr. Jack Causey officiating. A private burial at Oakwood Cemetery will precede the service. Honorary Pallbearers are: Roger Parks, Pete Riccardi, Vinson Smith, Jay DiPietro, Matt Bragg, Mike Mitchell, Marc Poole, Ricky Daniels and Harold Johnson. On Thursday evening Jamie's parents will receive family and friends at their residence at 3339 Sedgefield Rd. Statesville, N.C. from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M.
