James Richard Maier, known to friends and family as Jim, was born on October 13, 1949, in the Bronx, NY. Jim passed away peacefully on Friday, April 18th, 2025, at the Atrium Wake Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC.

Jim grew up in the Bronx, NY and Long Island, NY, where he attended Mineola High School. Jim went on to join the Air Force as an airplane mechanic. After 4 years he was honorably discharged and returned to New York, to work as a mechanic. Later relocated to Maine with his family. After a number of years Jim relocated to Pryor, OK where he became an Interior Craftsmen for Vogue Manufacturing building very expensive Prevost Motor Home Coaches. In 2001, we moved to Statesville, NC where Jim continued as an Interior Craftsmen on Featherlite Motor Home Coaches and Trailers. He retired in 2010 after suffering from a stroke.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Georgia Ann Maier. He is survived by his ex-wife Barbara Maier, and children Rebecca McCulloch and Patricia Maier. Grandchildren, Alicia, Marcus and Reese McCulloch. With so much distance he was not able to maintain a close relationship with his children, but he always loved and cherished them. Jim is also survived by a younger sister, Cynthia Maier, her children Jason Tubbs and Amanda Tubbs Arnold. His younger brother David Maier and wife Kesley Holt Maier and their child Emily Maier. Also, by his niece Laura Maier Kaim and Robert Maier. Along with many great nieces and nephews, and cousins.

Jim is predeceased in death by his parents Raymond R and Phyllis Maier, brothers William and Raymond A Maier.

Jim had a passion for music, old movies, gardening, guns, and projects around the house. Most of his time was with his music and gardening. He has a wonderful collection of music mostly back to the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s. His gardening was a work of art. Mostly tomatoes and lots of different peppers. He was very particular about how to take care of them. He has been a member of the Fraternal Order of Police for about 15 years.

Jim was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. His perspectives on life revolved around the bible and Jesus’ teaching. Everyone closest to Jim knew how he felt about any topic. As he didn’t hesitate to say his mind. We all love him very much and will cherish our time with him.
