James Joseph Nelson, Sr.

James Joseph Nelson, Sr., 81, of Statesville, passed away Friday, December 21, 2018 at his residence. He was born in Lee County, Virginia to the late Nora Nelson Miner.



James attended of Alleghany County Schools and was a graduate of Fort Hill High School in Cumberland, Maryland. On February 14, 1959, he married Laverne Henning, who survives. They shared over 59 years of marriage before his passing. James was a police officer for over four years but most of his career he was an Iron Foundry Worker.



Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Laverne, of the home and a daughter, Laura N. Sanders (James) of Millers Creek, NC.



Per Jame's wishes, there will be no formal services.
