James "Jim" Franklin Walsh

December 17, 1924 — March 16, 2017

James F. Walsh (Jim) passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville. Jim was born in Wilkes County in 1924 to John and Nora Bullis Walsh. He was one of seven children. He served in the US Army during WWII and married the love of his life, Avis N. Walsh in 1947 who preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughter Cynthia Robinson (Sam) and his son David (Debi); one granddaughter Candace Israel (Jeff), two great-grandchildren (Carolina & Gavin Wentz) and two great-great-grandchildren; his youngest sister Hazel Moore (Howard) and many nieces and nephews. Jim was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Statesville. He was a retired cabinet maker and had spent many of his retired years with the Troutman Wood Ministry providing fire wood to the needy in Iredell County. The family will greet friends at St. John's Lutheran Church on Monday, March 20, 2017 at 10:00 AM. The Rev. Ernie Sheldon will officiate the 11:00 AM service with interment and grave side service at Iredell Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials be made to St. John's; Troutman Wood Ministry or Gordon Hospice House.
