James Lsyander “Pete” Hunter, 67 of Statesville died Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Iredell Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Iredell County on June 8, 1956, to the late James G. Hunter and Mildred Woods Hunter. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Milton Woods and a sister, Regina Hunter.
Pete was an outgoing person and never met a stranger. He seemed to know everyone he met and loved to talk to them. Some of his favorite hobbies included watching wrestling, Carolina Panthers football, and westerns on tv, and eating, especially chicken! His favorite times were spent playing with his grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 16 years, Terri Hunter, four sons, Frederick Dobbins, James Dobbins, Calvin Dobbins, Brian Dobbins, a daughter, Brittany Dobbins, eight grandchildren, Zakia Dobbins, Zacoreion Dobbins, Zaniyah Dobbins, Zariah Dobbins, Zayden Dobbins, Amaria Dobbins, Daquanta Dobbins, Kylie Dobbins, one great-grandchild, Banks Dobbins, a brother, Howard Hunter, a sister, Sharon Hunter, nieces and nephews, Brandy Hunter, Whitney Ray, Bret Woods, Missy Woods, Treva Woods, also 17 great-nieces ans nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, February 4, 2024, at 2:30 pm at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Shirley officiating. Burial will follow at Belmont Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 1:00 to 2:30 pm prior to the service.
