James Hudler

November 27, 1937 — June 22, 2012

Mr. James "Jim" Herbert Hudler, 74, of Statesville, went to be with the Lord on June 22, 2012. He was born November 27, 1937 in Ashe County, NC and was the son of the late Arthur and Carrie Hamby Hudler of West Jefferson. He worked at Martin Marietta for 17 years. In 1985 he started James Hudler Backhoe Service. His first love was the Lord, second was his family and third was his work which enjoyed to the fullest. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church for 9 years, later joined St. Mark Baptist Church for 27 years, then joined Bright Light Baptist Church for the last 6 years of his lfe. He served the Lord as a deacon for 42 years faithfully. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Preston hudler, two brothers, Herman and Howard Hudler and one sister, Dorothy Phillips. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Frances Gatton Hudler, whom he married on November 18, 1960, two daughters, BeLinda Andrews (Tim), Robin Shoemaker (Jerry) both of Statesville; five grandchildren, Joshua and Samantha Andrews of Statesville, Chris Shoemaker of Bethlehem, Meghan and Thomas Shoemaker of Statesville, one brother, Harold Hudler of Ashe County and two sisters, Lib Hudler of West Jefferson and Naomi Sheets of Concord, NC. Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Monday, June 25, 2012 at Bright Light Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Bright Light Baptist Church.
