James Hamilton

Mr. James Martin Hamilton, 84, of Statesville, passed away Saturday, August 11, 2012 at the Gardens following an extended illness. Mr. Hamilton was born May 1, 1928 in Mount Zion, GA and was the son of the late Rev. William S. and Elsie Phillips Hamilton. He was a graduate of Geneva High School in Geneva, OH and he attended Youngstown State University. On October 10, 1953 he married Audrey Hannon Hamilton, who preceded him in death on May 3, 2012. Mr. Hamilton was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and he was self employed as a piano tuner. Mr. Hamilton was of the Methodist faith. In addition to his parents and his wife, Mr. Hamilton was also preceded in death by two brothers, Vernon and Edmund Hamilton and two sisters, Dorothy Schneider and Anita Keener. He is survived by one son, Keith Hamilton (Elaine) of Youngstown, OH and two daughters, Kathy A. Dills (Tom) of Huntersville, NC and Kristy Hamilton (Scott Wood) of Carlisle, PA. He is also survived by one sister, Margaret H. Brest of Kinsman, OH along with eight grandchildren. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. Hamilton will be conducted at 11:00 am Tuesday, August 14, 2012 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Matthew Riley officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 until 11:00 am at Nicholson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at a later date in Hartford, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville NC 28625.
