Mr. James Boyd Gantt, 83, of Pop's Lake Road, Statesville, N.C., went home to be with the Lord on Saturday September 21, 2024, peacefully at his home. Boyd was loved by a big family and so many friends that he considered family. He was married to the love of his life, Joyce, for almost 63 years, whom he lost just 7 months ago.
Boyd had one daughter, Lori Cole, and his son-in-law, Mike, who he loved with his whole heart and loved his grandchildren, Tyler Johnson, Kelsey Taylor and her husband Canaan, more than life itself. He loved being outside whether it was building homes, farming or running Pops Lake for over 30 years with Joyce. He loved fishing and spending time in the mountains. One of his favorite places to go was Greg's BBQ Restaurant for breakfast where he shared fond memories and embellished stories of the past with the Greg's family.
He was the son of the late CB (Joe) and Flossie Dagenhart Gantt. He had one sister Denie Gantt Gentle and her late husband JW. His family includes brother and sisters-in-law, Forrest and Martha Lloyd, the late Gary and Rosa Lloyd, Jackie and the late Benny Harmon, Carol and the late Gar Hendrix, Peggy and Norman Clanton, Brenda and Marion Bell, Pat and Wayne Kluttz and a loving beautiful family of nieces, nephews and extended family. Boyd had a wonderful and blessed life.
A Celebration of his Life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 28, 2024, in the Chapel of Nicholson Funeral Home with Alan Kerley officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service at Nicholson Funeral Home beginning at 9:30 am. Interment will follow at Abilene Church of Christ Cemetery on Bell Farm Road in Statesville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
Nicholson Funeral Home is honored to serve the Gantt family.
